どころか” is a phrase in Japanese that roughly translates to “far from it” or “on the contrary” in English. It is used to indicate that the opposite of what has been stated is actually the case.

  6. その人が本気かどうか、目を見れば分かる。 You can tell whether that person is serious or not by looking in his eyes.  
  7. 試験に合格できるかどうか、とても心配です。 I’m worried about whether I’ll be able to pass the test.  
  8. 牛乳が ある かどうか、見て みて 下さい。 Please look and see if we have milk or not.  
  9. 会議が もう はじまっているかどうか しらない。 I don’t know whether the meeting has already started or not.  
  10. 彼女は私に運転免許があるかどうか聞いてきました。 She asked if I had a driver’s license.  
  11. 斉藤さんは、手術をするべきかどうか、迷いました。 Mr. Saitou wavered over whether or not he should proceed with (“do”) the surgery.
