“ことにする” (koto ni suru) is a phrase that means “to decide to do something”.

  1. 家を買うことにした。 I decided to buy a house.  
  2. 彼の頼みに応ずることにした I decided to grant his request.  
  3. 今月末で退職することにした。 I decided to resign from the job at the end of this month.  
  4. 会社を辞めて自営することにしたよ I decided to leave the company and run my own business.  
  5. 新しいアルバイトを雇うことにした。 I decided to employ a new part-time worker.  
  6. 私は友人と事業を始めることにした。 I decided to start a business with a friend of mine.  
  7. 色々考えて、中古車を買うことにした。 After considering a lot of options, I decided to buy a used car.  
  8. 彼は、別のチームへ移籍することにした。 He decided to transfer to another team.  
  9. 来月からアルバイトを減らすことにした。 Starting next month, I’m going to reduce how much I work part-time.  
  10. 私は、その仕事を引き受けることにした。 I’ve decided to take that job.
