Download JLPT N2 Kanji List

Kanji is one of three writing scripts used in Japanese. Hiragana and katakana are also common writing systems. By using kanji, it is easier to read and write Japanese words. Names, grammar, and concepts in Japanese are primarily communicated through kanji

You can also use kanji to distinguish between the beginning and the end of a word. There are few punctuation marks in Japanese writing and there are no spaces. Children’s books with spaces and furigana are the only books you can read without kanji.

The words in a sentence will appear grouped if there are no kanji. Consequently, you will find it difficult to read or write Japanese if you do not know kanji.

BASIC KANJI BOOK VOL.1 500 PDF

Basic Kanji Book Vol. 1 is a popular kanji textbook used both in classrooms and for self-study. In just over half an hour, you’ll be learning to read, write, and use 500 key kanji. In total, the book introduces 251 characters in a pioneering and systematic manner.

A game-changing approach to learning kanji

Foreign learners’ kanji study was slow and inefficient before this book was published in 1989. Vol. 1 of The Basic Kanji Book. A change in all that was brought about by Basic 500 Kanji. Unlike earlier kanji study programs that simply instructed students to memorize each character as they encountered it, this book’s creators created a systematized yet easy-to-follow learning method that introduces each character’s origins, then demonstrates how these combine to make common words. Beyond the 251 kanji presented in this book, the student also learns how to deduce the meanings of further kanji by analyzing the radicals from which they are formed by gaining an understanding of how all but the simplest kanji are made up of multiple smaller characters known as radicals.
