Japanese Meaning of 下手 (へた) heta

Japanese Vocabulary: 下手

Meaning: ”inept” or “clumsy” in English. 

It is often used to describe someone who is not skilled at a particular activity or task.

  1. 日本語が下手です。 I’m poor at Japanese.  
  2. 私は歌が下手です。 I sing poorly.  
  3. その歌手は歌が下手だ。 That singer’s terrible.  
  4. 彼女は卓球が下手です。 She is not good at table tennis.  
  5. 私は字がすごく下手だ。 My handwriting is very bad.  
  6. 友達はスキーが下手です。 My friend is not good at skiing.  
  7. 彼は漢字を書くのが下手。 He is bad at writing kanji.  
  8. 彼女は勉強するのが下手。 She is bad at studying.  
  9. 田中さんは歌が下手です。 Mr. Tanaka is bad at singing.  
  10. カタカナを覚えるのが下手。 I’m not good at remembering Katakana.  
  11. 君は、泳ぐのが下手ですね。 You are bad at swimming, aren’t you.
