Japanese Meaning of 掃除 (souji) JLPT N5

Japanese Vocabulary: 掃除 (souji)

Meaning: “cleaning” or “housekeeping.” 

An object or space is cleaned and tidied up after it has been cleaned.

Examples:

  1. 今日浴槽を掃除しました I cleaned the bathtub today.  
  2. 家政婦が窓を掃除した。 The housekeeper cleaned the window.  
  3. 家政婦が窓を掃除する。 The housekeeper cleans the window.  
  4. オフィスは今掃除中です。 The office is being cleaned right now.  
  5. トイレを掃除しましたか。 Did you clean the toilet?  
  6. 掃除用具を買ってきました I bought some cleaning tools.  
  7. 毎日掃除をした方がいい。 It would be better to clean every day.  
  8. 洗濯した後で掃除します。 I do some cleaning after doing laundry.  
  9. 部屋を徹底的に掃除した。 I gave a room a thorough cleaning.  
  10. 部屋を掃除してください。 Clean the rooms please.  
  11. カーペットに掃除機をかける vacuum a carpet  
  12. ほうきで庭を掃除しました。 I cleaned up the yard with a broom.
