Japanese Vocabulary: 撮る (toru)

Meaning:  take a picture or to film

Examples:

  1. 写真を撮る to take photos  
  2. ここから、写真を撮るな。 Don’t take pictures from here.  
  3. 空の写真を撮るのが好きです。 I like to take photographs of the sky.  
  4. 写真を撮るときは、笑ってください。 When you take a picture, please smile.  
  5. 旅先の風景を写真に撮るのが好きだ。 I like taking pictures of scenery when on holiday.  
  6. 私にとって写真を撮ることは楽しみです。 Taking pictures is a hobby for me.  
  7. 私はフィルムで写真を撮るのが好きです。 I like to take film photographs.  
  8. 七五三のお祝いに、神社で記念写真を撮る。 We go to shrines and have our pictures taken to celebrate Shichi-Go-San.
