Japanese Meaning of 眠い (nemui) | JLPT N4

Meaning: “sleepy”

Examples:

  1. 眠いんですか? Are you sleepy?  
  2. 彼女は眠いようです。 It looks like she’s sleepy.  
  3. 今日はとても眠いです。 I’m very sleepy today.  
  4. おはよう。まだ眠いです。 Good morning. I’m still sleepy.  
  5. 薬の副作用で少し眠いです I’m a little sleepy due to the side effects of the medicine.  
  6. なんでこんなに眠いんだろう。 Why am I so sleepy?  
  7. 徹夜明けなので、とても眠い。 I’ve stayed awake all night, so I’m very sleepy.  
  8. お腹が一杯で、ちょっと眠いです。 My stomach is full, so I’m a little sleepy.  
  9. 心配しないで、単に眠いだけです。 Don’t worry, I’m just sleepy.  
  10. 日本に戻ってから、時差でずっと眠い。 Since coming back to Japan, I’ve been tired for a while due to the time difference.  
  11. 今朝、5時に起きました。眠いです。」 “I woke up at 5 AM this morning. I’m sleepy.”  
  12. 眠いが、今日中にレポートを終わらさなければいけない。 I’m sleepy, but I have to finish this report tonight
