Japanese Meaning of 親 (oya)  JLPT N4

Japanese Vocabulary: 親 (oya)

Meaning:  ”parent,” 

specifically referring to one’s father or mother. It can also be used as a general term for any older adult who acts as a caregiver or authority figure.

  2. 彼は親孝行だ He is dutiful to his parents.  
  3. 彼は親日家だ He is a Japanophile.

  6. 親切な先生です。 (He is) a kind teacher.  
  7. 親切な客室乗務員 friendly flight attendant  
  8. 親知らずが痛い。 My wisdom teeth hurt.  
  9. 躾は親の役目だ。 Disciplining their children is a duty of the parents.  
  10. 「親切な人です。」 “He/she is a kind person.”  
  11. 彼は私の親友です。 He is my best friend.
