Form

Verb (た form) きり

Noun っきり

Example:

  1. 彼女と食事をしたのは1回きりです。それからは一度も会っていません。

I ate with her only once. I haven’t met him since then.

  1. あの海岸は静かでよかったですよ。私たち二人きりでした。

That beach was nice and quiet. it was just the two of us.

  1. あの人には数年前に会いました。それ(っ)きり会っていません。

I met that person a few years ago. I haven’t seen you since then.

  1. Lineに既読は付いたが、それ(っ)きり返信が来ない。

Line has been marked as read, but I haven’t received a reply.

  1. あの人には数年前に会ったきりです。

I only met him a few years ago.

  1. あの人には数年前に会ったきり、会っていません。

I haven’t met him since I met him several years ago.

  1. 今日は朝ごはんを食べたきりです。

I just ate breakfast today.

  1. 今日は朝ごはんを食べたきり、何も食べていません。

I haven’t eaten anything since I ate breakfast today.
