JLPT N4 Grammar: ても (temo) Meaning

JLPT N4 Grammar: ても (temo) Meaning

ても” is a Japanese grammar particle that is used to connect clauses and indicate a contrast or exception. It can be translated as “even if” or “although”. It is often used in the middle of a sentence and is equivalent to “even though” in English.

Form :

Verb ( て Form)  も

Examples:

  1. 理由聞いてもいい? May I ask why?  
  2. 質問をしてもいい? May I ask a question?  
  3. 電気消してもいい? Do you mind if I turn off the light?  
  4. 電話借りてもいい? May I use your phone?  
  5. 食べてもいません。 I haven’t eaten, either.  
  6. あの池はとても深い。 That pond is very deep.  
  7. この岩はとても固い。 This rock is very hard.  
  8. この犬はとても賢い。 This dog is very clever.  
  9. この靴はとても軽い。 These shoes are very light.  
  10. テレビつけてもいい? Can I turn on the TV?  
  11. テレビ消してもいい? Can I turn off the TV?
