JLPT N5 Grammar: 方 かた Meaning

Japanese grammar is an essential part of learning the Japanese language.

It is the set of rules that govern the way words are combined to form sentences in the Japanese language. Japanese grammar is known for its complex system of particles, which are small words that are added to the end of nouns or verbs to indicate the grammatical function of the word in the sentence.

JLPT N4 Grammar: 

方 (かた) is a Japanese word that can be translated as “way” or “method.” It is often used to indicate the way in which something is done or to suggest that there is more than one way to do something.

Form

Verb ます (stem form)

かた

Example:

  1. この日本語学校では、ユニークな日本語の教え方を実践しています。 

In this Japanese language school, they teach Japanese in a unique way.

  1. この食べ方を教えて下さい。 Please teach me how to eat this.
  1. 初めての場所に行くときは、ヤフーで行き方を調べます。

 I look up directions on Yahoo! before going anywhere new.

  1. 母がケーキの作り方を教えてくれた。 My mother taught me how to make cakes.
  1. 女の子は話し方まで母親に似るわね。 Girls resemble their mothers even in speech.
  2. 仕事のやり方を教えてください。 Please teach me how to do the job.
  3. すみません、バスの乗り方を教えてください。 Excuse me, please tell me how to ride the bus.
  4. この機械の使い方分かりますか? Do you know how to use this machine?
