JLPT N3 Grammar: 例えば (tatoeba) Meaning

Japanese Vocabulary: 例えば (tatoeba)

Meaning: “for example” or “such as.” 

It is commonly used to give examples or illustrate a point in a sentence.

Examples

  1. 例えば、どんなことですか。 Do you have any examples?  
  2. 例えばどんなことをしたいですか。 Like (for example) what kind of things do you want to do?  
  3. お正月にアジア、例えばタイに行きたいです。 I want to travel somewhere in Asia, like Thailand for example.  
  4. 色々な国に行って見たい。例えば、ベトナム。 I want to go to a variety of countries. Vietnam for example.  
  5. 例えば、「英語が好きですか。」と聞いてみたら? For example, why don’t you ask ‘Do you like English?’  
  6. 例えば、翻訳者になったら日本に住むことが出来る。 For example, if you become a translator, you will be able to live in Japan.
