The particle “~っけ” is used to indicate that the speaker is trying to remember something. It is similar to saying “I wonder” or “I can’t remember” in English.

Noun + (だ / だった)

な-adjective + (だ / だった)

い-adjective + いかった

  8. ええっと・・・どこにあったっけ。 Let’s see…where was it?  
  9. 私たちはあっけに取られて彼を見ていた We looked at him in astonishment.
