JLPT N4 Grammar: 場合は (baai wa) Meaning

JLPT N4 Grammar: 場合は (baai wa) Meaning

場合 (baai)” means “situation” or “circumstance”, and “は (wa)” is a particle used to indicate the topic of a sentence. So “場合は (baai wa)” is used to indicate that the situation or circumstance being discussed is the topic of the sentence.

Form :

Verb (casual) 場合は

Noun + の ばあいは

な-adjective + な

い-adjective + い

Examples:

  1. なお、雨の場合は中止です。 Moreover, it will be canceled in the event of rain.  
  2. 万が一の場合は電話下さい。 In case of an emergency, please call me.  
  3. 雨の場合、お祭りは中止です。 In case of rain, the festival will be cancelled.  
  4. でも、泣いている場合ではない。 But it’s not the time to be crying.  
  5. 私の犬の場合は家族と一緒です。 In the case of my dog, he is like family.  
  6. 雨の場合、映画に行きましょう。 If it rains, let’s go to a movie.  
  7. この場合、保険が適用されますか。 In this case, does my insurance cover it?  
  8. 雨の場合は、教室で授業をします。 In case of rain, we will have class in the classroom.  
  9. その規則はこの場合には適用されない。 The rule doesn’t apply in this case.  
  10. 分からない場合は私に聞いてください。 Please ask me if you don’t understand.
