The particle “が” (ga) is a subject marker particle in Japanese grammar. It is used to indicate the topic or the subject of a sentence. It is equivalent to the English subject markers “is” or “was.” The particle “が” can only be used with a single noun, so if the subject of the sentence is a phrase or a clause, the particle “は” (wa) is used instead.
