Preparing for the JLPT N5 Test
Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) N5 is the first level. It is recommended that you have a vocabulary of about 800 words in order to pass the JLPT N5. The hiragana and katakana alphabets, as well as approximately 100 kanji, will also be necessary to read.
Tests like the N5 and N4 can be useful for describing the level of study for prospective classes and teachers. As a first step in learning a new language, the N5 and N4 tests are helpful as benchmarks to aim for.
