JLPT N3 Grammar: について (ni tsuite) Meaning

について (ni tsuite) is a Japanese grammar point that means “regarding” or “concerning.” It is used to introduce the topic of a conversation or to provide more information about something that has been mentioned.

Form: 

NOUN について

For example:

  1. 私については、大学では医学を専攻しています。 “Regarding me, I am specializing in medicine at university.”
  1. この本について、何か質問がありますか?Do you have any questions about this book?

Note that について is typically used in formal or written Japanese and is not as common in casual conversation.
